Moong Dal Halwa
Ingredients
Rinse the moong dal under cold running water until the water runs clear.
Soak the moong dal in water for at least
1 hour.
Drain the moong dal and transfer it to a large saucepan.
Add the water and bring to a boil over medium heat.
Reduce the heat to low and simmer the dal for about 30 minutes
Add the milk to the saucepan and continue cooking the dal over low heat for another 30 minutes
Heat the ghee in a separate pan over medium heat.
Once the ghee is hot, add the dal paste to the pan and stir well to combine.
Add the sugar and cardamom powder to the pan and stir well to incorporate.
Cook the halwa for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until it starts to pull away from the sides of the pan and forms a thick, sticky mass.
Garnish the halwa with sliced almonds and pistachios, if desired.
Serve the halwa hot or warm. Enjoy!
