The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday accused Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena and the BJP of insulting the Shivling by installing Shivling-shaped fountains in New Delhi ahead of the G20 summit.
“Shivling was insulted under the leadership of Modi ji, and shameless BJP people are praising it. The Delhi LG is being applauded for disrespecting Shivling. The BJP should apologise to the country. Action should be taken against LG,” AAP Rajya Sabha MP and national spokesperson Sanjay Singh posted on X, earlier known as Twitter.
Singh also shared screenshots of a post by the BJP in which the party shared a video of Shivling-shaped fountains and said, “Beautification of Delhi is happening under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi”.
”Delhi LG has played with the faith of crores of Hindus by getting Shivling-shaped fountains installed in Delhi,” AAP’s chief national spokesperson, Priyanka Kakkar, said in a post on X.
As Delhi gears up to host the G20 summit on September 9–10, arterial stretches in the capital have been given a makeover. Several shivling-shaped fountains have been installed in the national capital as part of the beautification drive.
