Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday visited the family of deceased gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari at his ancestral house in Mohammadabad town of Ghazipur district.
Yadav also questioned the circumstances under which Ansari died. “Mukhtar Ansari himself said he was being poisoned and that is what has come to light. We hope that the government will bring out the truth and the family will get justice. Ever since the BJP government has come to power, trust in institutions has decreased,” he said.
“Did Mukhtar Ansari’s grandfather not contributed to the country’s independence? Are the administration and the government not discriminating. Will we accept that it was a natural death?” he added.
Yadav further said that after the BJP came to the power, trust on institutions have come down. “We have seen in UP that people are doing self-immolation at the Chief Minister’s residence, office for justice. Deaths are taking place inside jails. In custodial deaths, UP is leading,” he alleged.
He further said that as the government did nothing for development, to increase income of farmers, it has “no face to go before the people” which was seen in the language used by the BJP leaders in elections.
