Last week, the Allahabad High Court in Sameer Khan vs State of U.P. denied bail to one Sameer Khan who has been accused of killing his paramour/wife, chopping her body into 6 pieces, and throwing it away in a secluded place in July 2020.

“Considering the allegations, heinousness of offence, and the evidence available on record, this Court does not find any ground to enlarge the accused-applicant on bail,” the bench of Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh said.

According to the FIR filed in the case, Sameer killed Ayesha, her wife/paramour, on July 5, 2020, with an iron rod after an argument broke out between them. After killing her, Sameer chopped her body into six pieces, placed them inside a bag and briefcase, and threw them from a car in a remote location before running away.

Khan, who originally belongs to UP’s Balrampur district, worked in a chicken shop in Mumbai’s Bandra area, where he met Ayesha and started living together. Thereafter, in 2020, during the lockdown period, they both moved to Lucknow and started living together as husband and wife.

In August 2020, Sameer was located during a search operation and taken into custody. Besides the confessional statement of the accused-applicant, on his pointing out, the car used for throwing the deceased’s body was recovered. The chopper by which the deceased body was cut into pieces and stuffed in two bags, was also recovered on his pointing out.

In light of the facts and circumstances of the case, the court refused to grant him bail.
