A Delhi court has sentenced nine people identified as Mohd Shahnawaz, Mohd Shoaib, Shahrukh, Rashid, Azad, Ashraf Ali, Parvez, Mohd Faisal and Rashid to seven years of imprisonment for rioting, committing theft, vandalism and mischief by fire during the anti-Hindu Delhi riots 2020. The court said, “The convicts formed an unlawful assembly, the object whereof was to cause maximum damage to the persons belonging to Hindu community as well as their properties and to create fear and insecurity in the minds of the members of the Hindu community.”
