Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s son and Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge on Monday came out in support of DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin’s “Sanatana Dharma is like malaria and dengue” statement and said that any religion that “does not give equal rights is as good as disease”.
“Any religion that does not promote equality or does not ensure you have the dignity of being human is not religion, according to me… Any religion that does not give equal rights or does not treat you like humans is as good as disease,” Kharge said while speaking to reporters.
He was responding to a query by a reporter that Stalin has said Sanatan Dharma is like dengue and malaria.
On Sunday, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) chief Thol. Thirumavalavan also came in support of Udhayanidhi Stalin and said, “BR Ambedkar says Sanatana Dharma or Hindu Dharma, is a contagious disease. It should be eradicated and annihilated in the future. Then only we can attain equality among the people. So Minister Udhayanidhi spoke about the ideology of Periyar, the ideology of Ambedkar, the ideology of equality”.
Earlier, standing firm on his statement calling for the eradication of Sanatana Dharma, Udhayanidhi Stalin said that he is ready to present the extensive writings of Ramasamy (called Periyar by his supporters) and B. R. Ambedkar on the subject.
