On Wednesday, the Tamil Nadu police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya for allegedly ‘distorting’ state minister Udhayanidhi Stalin’s remarks on Sanatan Dharma and spreading ‘misinformation’.

This comes after the Uttar Pradesh Police booked Udhayanidhi Stalin and Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge for outraging religious feelings over Stalin’s call for the eradication of Sanatan Dharma. The FIR against the DMK and Congress leaders was registered at the Civil Lines police station in Rampur based on the complaint of a lawyer, Ram Singh Lodhi.

Stalin on Saturday said that “Sanatana Dharma is like malaria and dengue, and so it must be eradicated and not merely opposed”.

While Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s son and Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge on Monday came out in support of Stalin’s “Sanatana Dharma is like malaria and dengue” statement and said that any religion that “does not give equal rights is as good as a disease”.
