The canopy outside Rajkot airport terminal in Gujarat collapsed amid heavy rain on Saturday. The incident happened at the passenger pickup and drop area outside the terminal.

There were no reports of any injuries.

On Friday, the weather office said a cyclonic circulation is active over south Gujarat, bringing widespread rains in parts of the state. The weather department also said the wet spell will continue for the next five days.

For Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a ‘yellow alert’ for south Gujarat, predicting the possibility of heavy showers.

The incident comes in the wake of a deadly canopy collapse at Terminal 1 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, where one cab driver tragically lost his life while eight others were injured.

According to the officials, the incident occurred around 5:00 am on Friday. “Due to heavy rain since early this morning, a portion of the canopy at the old Departure forecourt of Delhi Airport’s Terminal 1 collapsed,” said officials.
