The Central government hailed Mughal emperor Akbar in a magazine released for the G20 Summit. In the 24-page magazine titled ‘Bharat: the mother of democracy’, Akbar has been termed as a “democratic leader”.
As per a report by Hindustan Times, the government magazine termed Akbar as a proponent of peace and democracy.
The magazine claimed that Akbar’s democratic thinking was unusual and way ahead of its time. “Good administration should embrace everyone’s welfare, regardless of religion. That was the kind of democracy the 3rd Mughal Padishah Akbar practiced. Akbar introduced the doctrine of ‘Sulh-i-kul’ ie universal peace, as a tool against religious discrimination. Akbar’s democratic thinking was unusual and way ahead of its time,” the magazine, ‘Bharat: the mother of democracy’, stated.
The magazine also said that Bharat is the official name of the country.
