The Central government may introduce a bill to remove the word ‘India’ from the Constitution, various media reports said.
The reports also suggested that the Bill will be introduced in a upcoming Special Session of the Parliament that is going to be held from September 18-22.
Meanwhile, Presidential invite for G20 dinner with ‘President of Bharat’ instead of ‘President of India’ written on it has gone viral on socal media.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh also confirmed that the official G20 dinner invitations from the President have been sent under the name of ‘President of Bharat’ instead of the ‘President of India’.
“So the news is indeed true. Rashtrapati Bhawan has sent out an invite for a G20 dinner on Sept 9th in the name of ‘President of Bharat’ instead of the usual ‘President of India’. Now, Article 1 in the Constitution can read: “Bharat, that was India, shall be a Union of States.” But now even this “Union of States” is under assault,” the Congress leader posted on X.
Multiple BJP leaders including Assam chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Tuesday came out in support of ‘Bharat’.
“REPUBLIC OF BHARAT – happy and proud that our civilisation is marching ahead boldly towards AMRIT KAAL,” Sarma said in a post on X.
