On Monday, the Chinese government officially released the 2023 edition of its territorial map. On the map, China has shown Indian territories such as the entire state of Arunachal Pradesh and parts of Ladakh -Gosthana (Aksai Chin region)- as its own. Apart from Indian territories, China also claimed self-ruled Taiwan and the contentious 9-dash line in the South China Sea on its official map.

“The 2023 edition of China’s standard map was officially released on Monday and launched on the website of the standard map service hosted by the Ministry of Natural Resources. This map is compiled based on the drawing method of national boundaries of China and various countries in the world,” China’s national English newspaper Global Times posted on X, earlier known as Twitter.

This came days before the G20 Summit, which India is set to host on September 9–10 in New Delhi. Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to visit New Delhi for the G20 Summit.
