On September 12, 2022, a Hindu youth named Biki Bishal was lynched and hanged in Assam’s Lakhimpur district for loving and trying to marry a Christian girl without converting to Christianity. Biki was dragged out of his house in Koilamari Balijan-Johing by a cadre drawn from four Christian churches in the area and lynched to death. Biki was given the option to convert to Christianity or break things off with the girl. When Biki rejected the offer to convert to Christianity, the Christian mob vandalized his house and killed him.
The Police Superintendent of Lakhimpur, has informed that an FIR has been registered in the case and an investigation has been started into the matter.
