Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer sells 90,000 tickets for opening day, Barbie trails with 16,000 tickets

This week, two Hollywood films Oppenheimer and Barbie will be clashing at the box office across the world.  Renowned filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has sold 90,000 tickets for day one in India, while Barbie is trailing with 16,000 tickets.

As per journalist Himesh Mankad, Oppenheimer has sold 90,000 tickets across three multiple-screen chains of PVR, INOX and Cinepolis for the opening day alone. The figure includes IMAX screens as well. On the other hand, Barbie, which opened advance bookings in India several days after Oppenheimer, has sold 16,000 tickets for its first day.

Both films are scheduled to release in cinemas this Friday on July 21.

Oppenheimer is an epic biographical thriller film written and directed by Christopher Nolan. It is based on the 2005 biography ‘American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin about J. Robert Oppenheimer, called the father of the atomic bomb. Robert Oppenheimer was a theoretical physicist who was pivotal in developing the first nuclear weapons. The movie stars Cillian Murphy in the titular role.

Barbie is an American fantasy comedy film directed by Greta Gerwig. It is based on the Mattel doll, Barbie, and features Margot Robbie as the protagonist.
