On Thursday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath invited professionals of the entertainment industry to consider filming in Uttar Pradesh, promoting it as a film-friendly location. In a meeting with Bollywood professionals in Mumbai, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of cinema in bringing people together and preserving the unity of the country. He also mentioned that two members of the film fraternity have been elected as MPs in the state, showing the government’s understanding of the challenges and needs of the industry.
The CM, who is in Mumbai to promote an upcoming investor summit in Lucknow, stated that Uttar Pradesh has become a film-friendly state and this has been acknowledged at the National Film Awards and the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
Yogi Adityanath highlighted the state’s good connectivity and safe environment as attractive features for filmmakers. He also mentioned that under the government’s film policy, web series filmed in UP will receive a 50% subsidy, and studios and film labs will receive a 25% subsidy.
The event was attended by a number of important figures in the entertainment industry, including producer Boney Kapoor, actor Ravi Kishen (also a Lok Sabha MP for Gorakhpur), actor Dinesh Lal Nirhua, singers Sonu Nigam and Kailash Kher, actor Suniel Shetty, and filmmakers Chandraprakash Dwivedi, Madhur Bhandarkar, and Rajkumar Santoshi.
