During the discussion on the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam (Women’s Reservation Bill) in the Lok Sabha, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi demanded the caste census in the country.

“Only caste census can give the answer to the number of OBC, Dalit, and Adivasi in the country,” Gandhi said.

“I have a suggestion for the government that pass the Women’s Reservation Bill and implement it and the census is not needed for that, grant 33% reservations to women,” he continued.

“Get the caste census done as soon as possible. And if you are not doing it, we will do it,” the Congress leader added.

“It (Women’s Reservation Bill is a big step and I am sure everybody – the treasury benches and the Opposition – in this room agrees that this is a very important step for the women of our country. There is one thing in my view that make sthis bill incomplemet. I would like to have seen the OBC reservations included in this bill,” Gandhi said.
