Ahead of the Hindu festival Holi, the Hindi newspaper Dainik Jagran has launched ‘Ek Muhalla – Ek Holika’ campaign to ‘reduce pollution’. “Instead of doing multiple Holika (Dahan) at close distances, this Holi, let’s do only one Holika (Dahan) in a Muhalla as far as possible. This will reduce pollution and increase brotherhood,” the appeal by Dainik Jagran reads. It further urges people to not disturb traffic, use dung cakes instead of wood to save trees, and not burn anything that pollutes the environment.
People criticized the campaign and took a dig at the paper with comments like – Why not ‘Ek Muhalla – Ek Akhbar’ to save trees?
