The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi on Wednesday denied interim bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in excise policy case. The verdict was reserved last week on his bail petitions.
The court, however, directed the authorities to conduct required medical tests for the CM. Kejriwal in lodged in the Tihar jail in a money-laundering case linked to the now-scrapped excise policy.
The court also extended the judicial custody of Kejriwal, who was produced virtually before the court, till June 19. The court is scheduled to take up on June 7 his application seeking default bail in the case.
The CM was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 on allegations that he was part of a conspiracy to intentionally leave loopholes in the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy for 2021-22, to benefit certain liquor sellers.
ED has said that kickbacks received from liquor sellers were used to fund the AAP’s electoral campaign in Goa.
