A Delhi court on Saturday granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after he was asked to appear before it on the basis of two Enforcement Directorate (ED) complaints for skipping multiple summonses issued in a money laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy scam.
The bail was granted by the Rouse Avenue Court on a surety bond worth Rs 15,000 and a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh. The court had aked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo to appear before it in person today.
“He appeared today and submitted the bail bond. The bail was granted,” the court said.
The ED has filed two complaints before the magisterial court, seeking Kejriwal’s prosecution for skipping multiple summonses issued to him in the case.
The latest complaint pertains to Kejriwal not honouring summonses no. 4 to 8 sent by the federal probe agency under Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The ED had earlier moved the magisterial court seeking Kejriwal’s prosecution for not attending the first three summonses issued to him in the money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy.
So far, Kejriwal has skipped a total of eight ED summonses.
