RSS President Mohan Bhagwat said on Monday that different religions for our Rishis were nothing but different ways leading to the same God.
“Our Rishis had risen to a level of knowledge from which they saw various communities of people striving towards the same goal. Different religions for them were nothing but different ways leading to the same God: ‘Ekam sat viprah bahudha vadanti‘,” Bhagwat was quoted as saying by TOI.
The RSS President further said that ancient sages did not only propound principles for a harmonious and peaceful life but also devised systems to put these into practice. “Unfortunately, these got lost during several centuries of slavery India suffered. But the country is rising once again, and it is rising not only for itself but for the whole world,” he added.
“India’s rise is for the welfare of the whole world,” Bhagwat continued, adding, “We believe in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—seeing the world as one family. Those who look at people as their own and as others, are narrow-minded. To the generous, the entire world is a family.”
Bhagwat was delivering the second special lecture at Haridwar-based Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya on the G-20 theme of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
