A Hindu man named Krishnan Jayaraman has been abused by a Sikh man identified as Tejinder Singh in the United States, who hurled abusive slurs that he is a “dirty Hindu” and a “disgusting dog”. The incident took place at the Taco Bell in Fremont, California on August 21. Singh started abusing Krishnan while loudly placing an order for a beef burrito by saying:

Hey pick up your bean burrito and leave. You’re a vegetarian right? You don’t eat beef.

In the video recorded by Krishnan, Singh can be seen abusing him by calling Krishnan a dirty Hindu. “Maybe wear some socks. Walking around with your f**king toes out. B**ch, this isn’t India. You f**ked India up. You are disgusting with your H-1B visa. Nobody comes in the public like this, you dirty Hindu”, Singh said to Krishnan.

Singh further  went on abusing Jayaraman by saying:

You’re a Hindu who bathes in cow urine.

“Indian people are a joke. Look at this nasty s**t”, Singh added.

As per Jayaraman, Singh went on abusing nonstop for over eight minutes. It was after that he and a restaurant employee, called the Fremont police. Jayaraman said that he was frightened by the incident. He further said that it was even more upset to learn later that the perpetrator was also Indian. He said:

I was scared, to be honest with you. I was infuriated on the one hand, but I was scared that what if this guy becomes too belligerent and then comes after me?

Fremont Police Department on August 29 charged Singh with hate crime in violation of civil rights, assault, and disturbing the peace by offensive language. Thanking the police Jayaraman wrote on Twitter:

Grateful for the Fremont Police to come to the rescue from a ‘racist’ abuser at Taco Bell Fremont! The part that sucked was that the abuser spit on the counter where food was being served and despite pointing that out, the Taco Bell employees continued serving the food on it.
