A group of approximately 200 candidates selected under the government-sponsored Agnipath scheme in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have joined the Indian Army for training.

These candidates, known as Agniveers, will be trained in various roles, including Agniveer General Duty, Agniveer Technical, Agnipath Clerk/Storekeeper Technical, and Agniveer Tradesmen.

The selection process for these candidates included physical and medical tests, as well as a written examination and document verification. They were dispatched from the Army Recruiting Office in Srinagar to around 30 training centers in various regiments of the Indian Army on December 24, 2022.

“The selection and despatch of candidates through all stages has been possible due to the concerted and synergized efforts of the civil administration helmed by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir and his team, constant support of Chinar Corps and the dedication of the aspirants to contribute to nation building,” an Army spokesperson said.
