Addressing the Indian Diaspora in US’ New York on Monday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said the key architects of contemporary India were all Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).
“The central architect of modern India, Mahatma Gandhi, was an NRI. The freedom movement of India began in South Africa. All our leaders in the freedom movement- my great grandfather Nehru ji, Ambedkar ji, Sardar Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose, all were NRIs and had an open mind to the outside world,” Gandhi said.
