Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das on Wednesday said India’s gross domestic product in the financial year 2022-23 could be more than the estimated 7%. “I will not be surprised if the GDP growth comes slightly above 7%,” said Das speaking at a Confederation of Indian Industry event in New Delhi. He said this on the basis of strength in various macro fundamentals.
The RBI Governor also expects retail inflation for May to be lower than in April. He, however, emphasised that the decision on interest rate shall be taken on the actual ground situation.
