The Allahabad High Court on Friday ordered a scientific survey of the Shivling, found inside the disputed Gyanvapi structure, by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The Varanasi district court had denied the Hindu side’s request for the survey in October last year. The High Court said the ASI should use a scientific method in surveying the Shivling and avoid damaging it. A Shivling was found inside the disputed structure during the court-ordered videographic survey in May 2022.
