A Hindu lady was reportedly stripped, tortured, and gang raped by a Muslim landlord named Mohammad Akram in Bhawalpur of Punjab in Pakistan. The woman, who is the wife of a bonded laborer named Gangaram, went to her Muslim landlord to ask for wages. Akram later went to the woman’s house with weapons and abducted her. The Hindu lady was hoisted upside down, beaten, and gang-raped by six or seven men.

The Hindu lady in a video said: 

He (Mohammad Akram) kidnapped me and took me to an unknown place. Over their, they stripped me naked and kept beating me.

“They had covered my face and kept beating me”, the lady said. She added that she “had gone there to get wages but instead of clearing the dues, they told me that they will thrash me if I ask for money”.

Three people have been arrested in the case so far. The woman was beaten up on a false allegation of theft, as per the local media. As per the reports of local media, the Muslim landlord has been trying to cover up the matter by getting into negotiations with doctors treating the victim. The Hindu woman was taken to a hospital where the doctor reportedly refused to treat her, and also denied giving any medical certificate to her.

Hindus have been facing continuous persecution by Muslims in Pakistan. Earlier in October 2022, a 15-year-old Hindu girl was kidnapped by two Muslim men named Mushtaq Bajir and Nabi Baksh Bajir, from her home in Chhapar Din Shah in Pakistan’s Chachro Tehsil, and taken to a forest where they gang-raped her. The minor girl was later dumped on the roadside by Muslim men. In August 2022, during the floods that hit Pakistan, a 13 years old Hindu girl in Shahdadpur village in the Sanghar district of Sindh was lured by two Muslim men named Khalid Mashi and Barshek Mashi with an offer of free ration, and then gang-raped her by giving her intoxicants.
