Amid the Joshimath crisis, Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati has said that if we had understood the importance of pilgrimage, this would not have been the condition of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. The way the Jain community is fighting to stop the conversion of their pilgrimage center Sammed Shikhar into a tourist destination is commendable, Swami further said. He added that Hindu society should understand that pilgrimage and tourism are different.
