United States Army Reserve officer and Former US Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard said on Saturday that one of the main reasons for leaving the Democratic Party is their obsession with race, sexuality & other externals instead of merit.
Sharing a video clip of her interview with Fox News on Twitter, Gabbard said, “One of the main reasons I left today’s Dem Party is bc of their obsession with race, sexuality & other externals instead of merit. America is the greatest country in the world because it’s a meritocracy. If we become a society based on externals, America’s excellence will be history.”
When asked about hiring people based on sexuality instead of qualification or character, Tulsi Gabbard said, “This is one of the unfortunate reasons why I left the democratic party. It goes against the message that Dr Martin Luther King had, that we would judge each other on the content of our character rather than the colour of our skin, sexuality and other labels, unfortunately, used often to divide us.”
“We have people who are hired and fired based on these so-called superficial identities. The negative consequences are – you have people who are in positions of power, but they are not necessarily qualified for the job,” Tulsi added.
“as a Luitenant Colonel in the Army Reserves, I don’t care what my soldier’s race, religion or sexual preferences are. It makes no difference. We look for the content of their character. We prefer people who embody selfless service, personal courage and respect,” Gabbard further said.
“The bigger consequences of all of this we are seeing here are identity politics and the democratic party’s obsession with it, as our country is being divided. We are known around the world for our values of excellence,” Gabbard added.
