India and Russia are negotiating contracts on supplying Su-30MKI fighter sets for licensed production in India, according to the deputy head of Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Vladimir Drozhzhov. He added that all the proposals for purchasing MiG-29 fighters and Ka-31 helicopters were sent to Indian partners in 2021. Still, negotiations over the local production of Ka-226T helicopters collapsed. ”

“The Ministry of Defense of India is not satisfied with the level of localization proposed by the joint venture,” Drozhzhov said during the Aero India 2023 exhibition.
