India sees rise in the cases of COVID-19

Delhi witnessed a spike of 18% in COVID-19 cases in the last one week

In the week of August 8-14, 307 fatalities were recorded in India due to COVID-19. India is currently twenty-first among the most affected countries globally by active cases. With the increase of 647 active coronavirus cases, the total count of COVID-19 cases in India reported was 117,508 on August 15, 2022. 51 deaths from Covid-19 were reported in Delhi in the last week. The national capital has seen a spike of 18%, in the last one week, which is the highest in India.

In the state of Haryana, cases surged by 12%. The state of Rajasthan posted the highest rise in cases the last week, with numbers up 43% to 4,260. Meanwhile, the state of Maharashtra reported 12,608 cases were reported last week, up 1% from the previous week’s tally.

2,550,276 COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered on August 14, 2022, in India. India’s total count of vaccine shots has reportedly reached to 2,082,513,831. 43,623,804 COVID-19 patients have recovered till now, which accounts for 98.54% of the total caseload.
