India supported an UN resolution condemning ‘Israeli settlements in Palestine’. As per reports, India has voted in favour of a United Nations resolution that condemned Israeli settlement activities in “the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and in the occupied Syrian Golan”.

The UN draft resolution, titled “Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and the occupied Syrian Golan”, was passed with an overwhelming majority on November 9.

145 countries voted in favour of the resolution, while seven ountries—the  US, Canada, Hungary, Israel, the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, and auru—voted  against it, and 18 abstained from voting.

Earlier, on October 28, India abstained from voting in the UN General Assembly on the resolution titled ‘Protection of civilians and upholding legal and humanitarian obligations’  on the Israel-Hamas conflict. The resolution had called for an immediate humanitarian truce in the Israel-Hamas conflict and unhindered humanitarian access in the Gaza Strip.
