Meta plans to launch a Twitter-rivalling microblogging app called Threads.
Threads is expected to be released on Thursday and will allow users to retain followers from photo-sharing platform Instagram, and keep the same username.
Screengrabs show a dashboard that looks similar to Twitter. Meta describes Threads as a “text-based conversation app”.
The move is the latest in a rivalry between Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter owner Elon Musk.
This came days after Musk attracted criticism by announcing a temporary cap on how many posts users can read on the social media site.
