Jammu and Kashmir provinces of Doda and Kathua were struck by two separate Islamic terror attacks on Tuesday, resulting in the death of a CRPF jawan while six security personnel were injured.
In Doda district, terrorists attacked a joint checkpost of the 4 Rashtriya Rifles and police on the Bhaderwah-Pathankot road late on Tuesday night. Jaish-e-Mohammed-linked Islamic terror group, the Kashmir Tigers, claimed responsibility for the attack.
The terrorist attack in Kathua’s Saida Sukhal village occurred on Tuesday evening, injuring a civilian. During a subsequent search operation, one terrorist was killed, and efforts were being made to flush out the other holed-up terrorist, reports said.
Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu zone, who is supervising the anti-terrorist ops in Kathua, shared details of the encounters earlier this morning. The terrorists had asked for water from several houses, raising villagers’ suspicions, and opened fire when some villagers raised an alarm, the police said. One civilian was injured in the firing, Jain said.
On the Doda incident, he said terrorists opened fire at a joint party of police and Rashtriya Rifles at an army base in Chattargala area late last night. An encounter is underway between the security forces and the terrorists in the higher reaches, he added.
This came days after a bus carrying Hindu pilgrims was attacked by Islamic terrorists in Reasi. Following which, the bus crashed into a gorge. Nine Hindu devotees lost their live sin the incident.
