The Jammu and Kashmir Bank on Saturday sacked its chief manager, Sajad Ahmad Bazaz, after investigations by the J&K criminal investigation department (CID) revealed that he had links to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan’s ISI and terror outfits.

Intelligence sources told India Today that Bazaz was a “critical component of the overall terror ecosystem carefully nurtured by the ISI and terror outfits”. He was frequently in contact with one Shabir Bukhari, who had links to the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).

Bazaz also frequently communicated with Shabir Hussain Buch, a known aide of Mushtaq Latram, chief of the Al-Umar terror outfit and a close associate of Masood Azhar, the JeM chief.

As per reports, Bazaz, who hails from Srinagar joined the Jammu and Kashmir Bank in the year 1990 as cashier-cum-clerk. Initially appointed as a cashier-cum-clerk, he was later promoted to chief manager. The bank is a public sector entity owned by the Jammu and Kashmir government.

During the investigation, it was found that in almost all his write-ups and columns, he focused on glorifying the separatist and terrorist operations, campaigns, and activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

It was also revealed that after his activities came under the scanner, he started hiding his identity and masked himself with different names in his columns. Further inquiry against him is being conducted and legal action is being taken.
