The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday asked Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to clarify Sonia Gandhi’s “sovereignty” remarks in Karnataka, following a complaint by the BJP. The ECI in a letter to Kharge asked him to take rectification measures regarding the tweet on the Official INC Twitter handle.

On May 6, the Congress tweeted, “CPP Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi ji sends a strong message to 6.5 crore Kannadigas: The Congress will not allow anyone to pose a threat to Karnataka’s reputation, sovereignty or integrity.”
