The daughter of a Congress Corporator of the Hubballi Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) in Karnataka was killed by her former classmate Fayaz inside her college campus on Thursday.
The victim, Neha Hiremath, 21, daughter of HDMC councillor Niranjan Hiremath, was stabbed by Fayaz. Fayaz was seen on CCTV footage stabbing Neha multiple times before fleeing the spot. As per reports, he was waiting for her to come out of the college and attacked her with a knife.
Reportedly, Fayaz was pestering Neha to enter into a relationship with him, but she has been refusing his advances.
Fayaz was a BCA student of the same college and was a classmate of Neha. He is from Savadatti in Belagavi district.
Neha was a first-year MCA student at the KLE Technological University where the murder took place. Her body has been shifted to the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hospital.
“Its looks like a love reject case which forced him to act. We are also inquiring with friends and relatives of Neha to get more details on the motive of the murder,” an investigating officer said.
The family of the girl said that they don’t know Fayaz, and she never mentioned about him.
