Bengaluru police on Friday arrested a BJP woman worker after a complaint alleged that she had made ‘derogatory’ comments against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah.
As per a report by OpIndia, the BJP worker named Shakuntala HS was arrested for her tweet in response to a tweet by Karnataka Congress which called the act of Muslim girls in Udupi’s medical college making videos of Hindu girls in toilets a child’s act.
On July 25, Shakunthala HS quoted a tweet from the Karnataka Congress Twitter handle that referred to the Udupi College incident as child’s play. In response, she questioned CM Siddaramaiah and said, “If Congress sees the act of Muslim women recording videos of Hindu girls as a mere children’s play, would they hold the same view if such an incident involved Siddaramaiah’s wife or daughter-in-law?”
The police arrested Shakunthala based on a complaint that was filed against her at the High Grounds Police Station by a Congress worker named Hanamantrya. She was later released on bail at the police station.
At the time of arrest, Shakuntala was participating in a protest in front of the deputy commissioner’s office in the city by the BJP District Mahila Morcha in Tumakuru, against the incident in which three Muslim girls had allegedly made a secret filming of Hindu girls.
