A woman in Karnataka’s Mangaluru has been arrested for assaulting her 87-year-old father-in-law with a walking stick. The incident reportedly occurred within the confines of a residence in Kulashekar in Kankanady police station limits on Saturday.

She is accused of attempting to fatally injure her father-in-law with the stick and wishing his demise. Fearing for his life, the father-in-law sought refuge at his brother’s house in Marnamikatta and informed his daughter. He suffered injuries during the attack.

Police commissioner Anupam Agrawal said the arrested woman  is Uma Shankari. The accused reportedly works as a cashier in Mescom, Attavar and her husband works in Dubai.

As per a report by TOI, the assault took place at around 2.20pm when the victim identified as Padmanabha Suvarna, allegedly placed his clothes on a sofa, which provoked his daughter in law.

Based on the complaint given by the victim’s daughter, a case has been registered under IPC sections 324 and 307.
