In yet another targeted killing of Hindus by Islamists in the valley, two Hindus were killed on Monday night by the Islamists in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. The victims identified as Monish Kumar and Ram Sagar were from Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, working as laborers in Kashmir. As per the report, the Islamists lobbed a grenade on Monday night at the rental accommodation of the victims in Harmain village of the Shopian district. Monish and Ram Sagar were asleep, at the time of the attack.

Informing about the incident, Kashmir Zone Police tweeted, “Terrorists lobbed hand grenade in Harmen Shopian in which two laborers from UP namely Monish Kumar & Ram Sagar, both residents of Kanooj, UP got injured. They were shifted to hospital where they succumbed. Area cordoned off”.

In another tweet, the police said that they had arrested the ‘hybrid’ terrorist within hours after the incident, responsible for the killings of the two non-local Hindus.

“‘Hybrid’ terrorist of proscribed terror outfit LeT Imran Bashir Ganie of Harmen, Shopian who lobbed grenade arrested by Shopian police. Further investigation and raids are going on,” ADGP Kashmir said.

This is the second attack on Hindus in Shopian in three days. Puran Krishan Bhat, a Kashmiri Hindu, died on October 15  after being shot at extremely close range by Islamists near his home in Chowdari Gund in the same district.

Islamists have killed several Hindus in the valley this year.
