Khalistani terrorist Amritpal Singh will fight the Lok Sabha elections 2024 from Punjab’s Khadoor Sahib seat, his counsel said on Wednesday. Singh, who is also the chief of ‘Waris Punjab De’, is currently lodged in Dibrugarh central jail, Assam, under the National Security Act.

“I met Amritpal Singh in Dibrugarh today. He has conveyed to me that he will contest elections from Khadoor Sahib,” said Singh’s lawyer and a former MP Rajdev Singh Khalsa. Khalsa claimed that Singh will contest as an independent candidate.

Singh has been in custody since April last year, with the NSA invoked against him.  Singh, who aspired to be like deceased Kalistani terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, was caught by the police in Moga’s Rode village on April 23 last year after they searched for him for more than a month.

Singh’s mother Balwinder Kaur, who is sitting on indefinite protest in Amritsar demanding the shifting of Amritpal and other nine NSA detenues to Punjab, said, “Amritpal’s father and uncle are going to Dibrugarh to meet him and we will comment on the matter only after the meeting.”
