Kolkata Police arrest journalist Manab Guha for sharing videos of Mominpur anti-Hindu riots 

Hindus in Mominpur area of Kolkata were forced to leave their homes after being attacked by Muslims on October 9.

Kolkata Police have arrested journalist Manab Guha, for sharing posts and videos of the Mominpur anti-Hindu riots. The police have reportedly arrested Guha for sharing the information which “could have generated additional hostility in society”. Pratyush Singh, media in charge of West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) said on Twitter: 

Journalist Manab Guha has been arrested and framed in non bailable sections by Girish Park P.S bcz he spoke ground reality of Mominpur Violence. For how long this witch hunt of fearless journalism would continue & to what extent we shall allow this nefarious design of State?

On October 9, Hindus in the Mominpur area of Kolkata were attacked by Muslims on the day of Kojagara Lakshmi Puja, under the pretext of the Islamic flags being vandalized. Following the attacks, Hindus of the locality were forced to leave their homes. Hindus said that Muslims in the locality tried to molest Hindu women and girls and drag some of them away. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politician and Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal assembly, Suvendu Adhikari while talking to the media said: 

We do not want Bengali Hindus to migrate now. We have written a letter to the governor of West Bengal and Union Home Minister Amit Shah with evidence about the Mominpur clashes.
