Former Railways Minister Lalu Prasad, his wife, and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and their son, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav were granted bail in the land-for-job scam case on Wednesday.

The Delhi Rouse Avenue Court has directed all the accused to furnish a bail bond worth Rs 50,000, and posted the matter for next hearing on October 16.

The court granted relief to the accused after they appeared before the court in pursuance of summons issued against them. The court had on September 22 summoned the accused after taking cognisance of the charge sheet filed against them and other accused, saying the evidence “prima facie” showed commission of various offences, including corruption, criminal conspiracy, cheating and forgery.

The land-for-jobs case relates to appointments made in the railways in return for land parcels gifted or sold to Prasad’s family when he was the minister of railways between 2004 and 2009.
