A 19-year-old girl named Nidhi Gupta was pushed to death by one Mohammad Sufiyan from the fourth floor of a building in Lucknow. The incident occurred on November 15 in Basant Kunj under the Dubagga police station limits of Lucknow.
According to the police, Nidhi succumbed to her injuries during treatment at the trauma centre of King George’s Medical University.
According to the complaint filed by the girl’s family members, Sufiyan was forcing her to convert to Islam and do nikah with her.
Nidhi was reportedly taking training to become a beautician and she was in a relationship with Sufiyan. A few days before the incident, Sufiyan had given her a mobile phone. On November 15, when Nidhi’s parents came to know about this, they went to Sufiyan’s house to complain about the same. During the confrontation, Nidhi went to the roof. Sufiyan followed her and pushed her from the roof.
An FIR has been lodged against the accused, identified as Mohd Sufiyan, under appropriate sections of murder and forced religious conversion, Additional DCP (west) CN Sinha said.
According to the police, Sufiyan is on the run along with other family members after the incident. And efforts are underway to arrest him.
