On Wednesday morning, the Beed administration lifted the curfew imposed in parts of the district after violence during the Maratha quota protests on Monday.
The Beed police have registered more than 30 offences and arrested 99 people so far in connection with the violence, PTI has quoted officials as saying.
Prohibition orders will continue in the district, located in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra, and Internet services are still shut.
However, there is no relaxation in curfew in Dharashiv district.
Meanwhile, an all-party meeting meeting was called on Tuesday following the violence. All political parties in the state agreed to extend their support to Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government in giving reservations to the community.
“In the all-party meeting, everyone agreed that the Maratha community should get a reservation…It was decided the reservation should be within the framework of the law and without doing injustice to other communities,” the CM said after the meeting.
This comes after Manoj Jarange-Patil, the Maratha quota activist, threatened to stop drinking water from Wednesday evening if the ‘complete’ quota was not granted to the Maratha community. He was displeased by the state cabinet’s earlier decision to grant Kunbi caste certificates to the Marathas in the Marathwada region.
