According to a report from The Information on Tuesday, citing sources with direct knowledge of the plans, Microsoft is working on launching a version of its search engine Bing that will utilize the artificial intelligence behind OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot.

Microsoft is reportedly planning to launch a new version of its search engine Bing that will utilize the artificial intelligence behind OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot by the end of March. The company is hoping to compete with Alphabet’s search engine, Google. In a blog post last year, Microsoft announced its intention to integrate OpenAI’s image-generation software, DALL-E 2, into Bing. Both Microsoft and OpenAI declined to comment on the matter. In 2019, Microsoft invested $1 billion in OpenAI and formed a partnership to develop AI supercomputing technologies on Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing service. OpenAI released ChatGPT for free public testing on November 30. The chatbot is designed to imitate human-like conversation and can respond to a wide range of questions while mimicking human speaking styles.
