Hindu activists in Karnataka’s Nanjangud have opposed the state govt’s plan to spend Srikanteshwara Swami Temple funds on various public projects. As per a report by TOI, BJP MLA B Harshavardhan had approached the state govt seeking permission for the same, which has now been approved. Based on letters written by the BJP MLA dated November 28, 2022, and February 3, 2023, Rs 10 crore was sanctioned from the temple funds for various works by the state govt. In the first order, Rs 1.50 crore was sanctioned for Shadi Mahal, and Rs 20 lakh for Boudda Vihara. However now, financial support for Shadi Mahal has been dropped.
