National Investigation Team (NIA) has arrested another Muslim man in connection with the beheading of Kanhaiya Lal Teli. The man has been identified as Khan alias Muslim Raza. As per the NIA, 41 years old Khan who is a resident of Pratapgarh in Rajasthan, played an active role in the plot to behead Kanhaiya Lal.

This is the ninth arrest made by the NIA in the case. Earlier, the last arrest in the case was made on July 21 when a resident of the Sindhi Sarkar Ki Haweli, Kheradiwala; Mohammad Javed, was taken into custody.

NIA Officials have said that the agency is investigating the role of ‘local self-radicalized gangs’ and their possible international linkages. The agency has said the two assailants of Kanhaiya Lal became members of the Pakistan-based Sunni Islamic organization named Dawat-e-Islami via a mobile application and one of them was in touch with some people in Pakistan.

Kanhaiya Lal was beheaded by the Islamists on 28 June 2022 in Udaipur, for sharing a post supporting the former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.
