NIA conducts raid at Al Huda Educational Trust in Jammu-Kashmir, a frontal entity of Jamaat-e-Islami in terror funding case

The raid is related to the activities of the Islamist organization in the Rajouri district in J&K.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on October 11, 2022, carried out search operations at multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir in a terror funding case linked to Al Huda Educational Trust. The trust is functioning as a frontal entity for Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir, which was declared as an unlawful association under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act UA(P)A in 2019. NIA conducted the raids were conducted along with J&K Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

NIA has conducted multiple raids in J&K at Rajouri, Poonch, Jammu, Srinagar, Pulwama, Budgam, Shopian, and Bandipora. The case is reportedly related to the activities of the Islamist organization in the Rajouri district. NIA has registered a suo-moto case regarding the funding pattern and activities of Al Huda Educational Trust. 

Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) was banned by the central government in March 2019, for five years, citing reason that the organization was in close touch with Islamic militant outfits.

In September 2022, multiple raids were conducted by the State Investigation Agency (SIA) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police at the locations which are owned or used by the JeI and its affiliate Falah-e-Aam Trust (FAT). The police reportedly found incriminating material including laptops, cash books, cheque books, and land documents related to JeI, which were seized.
