Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said that the Centre will implement the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and no one can stop it.
Shah said West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been opposing it but no one can stop its implementation.
Addressing a rally in West Bengal’s Kolkata to launch the party’s Lok Sabha campaign, Shah further said that Banerjee has been unable to stop illegal infiltration in the state. “Mamata has not been able to stop infiltration. Voter cards and Aadhaar cards are being openly and illegally distributed to infiltrators and she is sitting silent,” the Union Home Minister said.
Shah further said that figures as regards election violence stands the highest in Bengal on national levels.
Saying that Bengal is gripped by infiltration, appeasement, political violence and corruption, the senior BJP leader said, “You should remember that in order to bring the BJP government to power here in 2026, you’ll have to lay its very foundation in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections…ensure that you make Modi Ji the Prime Minister of the country again.”
Notably, the CAA was passed by the Parliament on December 11, 2019, and the Presidential nod was received the next day. Subsequently, it was notified by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. However, the Centre is yet to frame rules for it.
