Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taught such a lesson to rioters in 2002 — when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat — that to date, no one has dared to take part in riots again in the state.

“In 2002, there were riots, then Modi saheb taught (the rioters) a lesson not to repeat the act… Tell me, have there been riots since then? The rioters were taught such a lesson in 2002 that to date no one dares to cause riots in Gujarat to this day,” Shah said while speaking at the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra at Sanand in Ahmedabad district.

Shah also gave credit to Modi for building the Ayodhya Ram temple. “Since the period of Sardar Patel and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the ambition of eliminating Article 370 from Kashmir has gone unmet. However, Prime Minister Modi quickly erased Article 370… In our own country, Lord Ram lived in a tent for 550 years, and the temple could not be erected, but Narendra Modi completed the process of building the temple in an instant,” the senior BJP leader proclaimed.

Crediting PM Modi for the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon, Shah said, “The entire world reached the Moon but our flag could not. Narendrabhai sent Chandrayaan to the Moon and made our Tricolour fly high Shiv Shakti point (landing site of Chandrayaan).”

“Earlier, every day, we would have bomb blasts… print journalists would forget to print, there would be so many blasts. But with a surgical and air strike once, we taught Pakistan a lesson… Narendrabhai (PM Modi) has made the country safer,” he added.
