Rajasthan: Patient dies in ambulance as the vehicle runs out of fuel

An inquiry has been initiated into the matter.

A patient in Rajasthan’s Banswara district died on the way to the hospital in an ambulance due to a delay caused by of lack of fuel. As per an ANI report, the relatives were seen pushing the ambulance to save the life of the patient. However, when the patient reached the hospital, he was declared brought dead.

The patient’s relatives had called 108 for an ambulance to take a 40-year-old patient named Tejiya as he had suddenly become unconscious.

Meanwhile, Banswara’s Chief Medical Health Officer (CMHO) has initiated an inquiry into the matter. “We came to know about the incident and have initiated the inquiry. We will meet the victim’s relatives and find out about the negligence. 108 is being run by a private agency. They have the responsibility for the maintenance of ambulances. A probe is underway,” CMHO Dr. HL Tabiyar said.

Responding to the incident, state minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas told ANI that if the patient died due to the lack of fuel in the ambulance then it is the failure of management and not the system. He promised stringent action against the responsible authorities.
